UON sponsor UON Central Coast Sevens
Amidst a spectacle of fireworks, music and entertainment The University of Newcastle (UON) has been announced as the new naming partner of the Central Coast Sevens International Rugby Festival.
The announcement made by tournament officials and UON representatives at the tournaments official launch event held on Saturday night, has further established the internationally renowned tournament as one of the world's leading invitational rugby sevens events and a major asset event for the Central Coast region.
The tournament to be known as the UON Central Coast Sevens is regarded as the premier tournament of its kind in Australia outside of the World Series, attracting some of the very best sides in the world, including a number of national teams, who will use the tournament to prepare for upcoming Olympic qualification events the 2015/16 World Series.
Tournament Founder Craig Morgan said "this is an extremely exciting announcement and a very important partnership for the Central Coast Sevens, we see a strong alignment with the core values of the University of Newcastle with both organisations sharing a significant international presence and a strong commitment to the local Central Coast community, we see tonight as just the start of a very positive association and I thank the University of Newcastle for sharing the vision and aligning with the tournament".
University of Newcastle (UON) Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Andrew Parfitt said the University was proud to be partnering with a landmark event for the Central Coast community.

The UON Central Coast Sevens Rugby Festival will take place over the weekend of Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th October at Wyong Rugby League Club and will feature end to end on field international rugby sevens action and a vibrant sideline community festival.
