Ms Allen is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, and in addition to her extensive career in international business and finance, she has more than fifteen years of boardroom experience in government-owned corporations and not-for-profit organisations.

She has been a University Council Member since 2006, as well as Chair of the Finance Committee since 2007, and Pro Chancellor since 2011.

The Chancellor, Mr Paul Jeans, said he looked forward to continuing to work with Ms Allen in the leadership of the Council and in supporting the future direction of the University.

"Ms Allen has made a significant contribution on Council since she commenced as a member in 2006.  As the Chair of the Finance Committee, she has played a key role in the governing body that has seen the University rise to being ranked in the top three per cent of universities in the world."

Ms Allen replaces The Honourable John Price AM, who concluded his term as Deputy Chancellor on 21 March 2014. Mr Price has advised his intention to retire from the University Council in May 2014.

Mr Jeans paid tribute to Mr Price noting his service to the University for more than three decades, including involvement with the University Council since 1984.

"During his tenure, Mr Price has both acted as Chancellor for the University and given great support to five Chancellors, as well as members of Council, staff, students and the community to build the University's education and research mission to be the global leader it is today.

"He leaves a considerable legacy. I thank him for the support he has given to me and to the Council, and I wish him all the best in his future endeavours."

Mr Price will continue in his roles as member of the University's Finance Committee, Audit and Risk Management Committee, and Nominations and Legislation Committee until he retires from Council.

Ms Allen took up the position of Deputy Chancellor on 22 March 2014.
