Notably, Architecture and Building degree holders earn, on average, $7,000 more than the national median ($55,000 compared with $48,000 elsewhere), while Physical Sciences graduates earn $21,000 more than their peers ($76,000 compared with $55,000 nationally). University of Newcastle Social Work graduates earn an average of $54,000, $4,000 more than the national average of $50,000.

The University’s leading Engineering degrees earn graduates an average of $2,000 more than the national median, as do Biological Sciences degrees.

“This is great news for University of Newcastle graduates and a testament to the quality of our programs and the talents of our graduates,” said the University’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Andrew Parfitt.

“Our graduates in areas as diverse as architecture, engineering, physical sciences and social work can expect to earn more than the national graduate average salary in those fields,” he said.

The University of Newcastle is a national leader in providing opportunities for work-integrated learning to create career-ready graduates.

“We have the support in place to help talented and motivated students from all walks of life gain entry and succeed at a University ranked in the top three percent in the world. The support we provide to students means that there is no trade-off between equity and excellence, and the higher-than-average earning power of our graduates is proof of that excellence,” Professor Parfitt said.
