UON cognitive neuroscientist appointed to ARC College of Experts

UON cognitive neuroscientist Frini Karayanidis has been inducted into the Australian Research Centre's (ARC) College of Experts, joining a team of academic authorities drawn from higher education, industry and the public sector.

Appointment to the College, which plays a key role in identifying research excellence in the ARC National Competitive Grants Program, is only offered to researchers of exemplary standing within the international academic community.

Associate Professor Karayanidis said she is honored to receive the appointment.

"The ARC plays a vital role in setting the research agenda and research standards. I'm very excited and humbled to be part of this process."

Associate Professor Karayanidis is director of the Functional Neuroimaging Laboratory (FNL) in the School of Psychology, a joint facility with multiple labs at Callaghan, Ourimbah and the HMRI Imaging Centre.

"The expertise gained through my collaborative work with developmental, cognitive and clinical scientists will inform my new role in the College of Experts and contribute to the important work that ARC carries out."Associate Professor Karayanidis joins four other UON colleagues already contributing to the ARC College of Experts: Professor Rick Middleton, Emeritus Professor Mirka Miller, Associate Professor Rosalind Smith and Professor Allyson Holbrook.
