University of Newcastle researcher crowned SciFinder Future Leader
University of Newcastle’s Dr Siddulu Naidu Talapaneni has been awarded the title of 2018 CAS SciFinder Future Leader, recognising him as an up-and-coming leader in shaping the future of scientific information and innovation.
The SciFinder Future Leaders program, hosted by the Chemical Abstracts Services (CAS) – a division of the American Chemical Society, offers selected international PhD students and postdoctoral researchers an opportunity to support the scientific community and collaborate on new initiatives at the CAS headquarters, Ohio, in August 2018.
The CAS SciFinder Future Leaders program aims at increasing the knowledge and exchange of ideas about the role of information within the research process and shares lessons from industry and academic leaders about the role of science in the global economy, academia and the media.
Dr Talapaneni is one of thirty awardees, and just two Australians, selected from across the world for this prestigious program – in the highest number of entries CAS has ever received.
A research associate at the Global Innovative Centre for Advanced Nanomaterials (GICAN) of the University’s Newcastle Institute for Energy and Resources and the faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, Dr Talapaneni’s research area of interest focuses on the design and development of Multifunctional Nanoporous Materials via innovative reticular chemistry to tackle the grand challenges in the fields of energy and environmental sectors.
Dr Talapaneni, who has also been invited to speak about his research at 256th American Chemical Society Meeting and Exposition at Boston as part of the program, said the opportunity was once in a lifetime.

“The SciFinder Future Leaders program provides a valuable opportunity to help us understand how information is stored and utilised by SciFinder, which is applicable to research endeavours.”
