Graduation celebrations commence at Callaghan

Wednesday, 28 September 2016

More than 1000 University of Newcastle (UON) graduates will be joined by their family and friends in the Great Hall this week to mark a special milestone in their lives – the completion of their studies.

Graduation caps

Undergraduate students from the university’s five faculties and postgraduate students will don their caps and gowns to participate in graduation ceremonies over two days, on Thursday 29 September and Friday 30 September, at the Callaghan campus.

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Caroline McMillen, said graduation was a momentous occasion for students to reflect on the dedication and commitment they had invested in their futures.

“Graduation represents years of hard work for our students, who are ready to excel as driven, socially-oriented and innovative leaders in the workforce of today and into the future.”

“Recently UON placed as one of the top 250 global universities in the prestigious QS World University Rankings and Times Higher Education World University Rankings for the first time.”

“Our graduates can be confident they have received a world-class education and earned their degree from an institution that is recognised and highly regarded for education, research and innovation in our regions and beyond.”

“We wish all our graduates and their supporters a wonderful celebration.”
