Accelerated carbonation experts convene in Newcastle
Two world-leading chemical engineers from the University of Newcastle will chair a major international conference in Newcastle this week, which will focus on the future of accelerated carbonation.
The 6th edition of the International Conference on Accelerated Carbonation for Environmental and Material Engineering (ACEME) aims to promote research and development activities on accelerated carbonation at an international level and discuss future development and implementation in the field.
Professors Eric Kennedy and Michael Stockenhuber will chair the conference, which will include a number of University of Newcastle speakers among the international lineup of experts in this field.
Processing conditions, product properties and (online) analysis at lab, pilot and full scale are the key focus themes of the conference. The conference also aims to promote mineral carbonation in the context of carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS).
The first time to be staged in the Asia Pacific, the conference has previously run in London (UK) in 2006, Rome (Italy) in 2008, Turku (Finland) in 2010, Leuven (Belgium) in 2013 and New York (USA) in 2015.
The conference runs from March 11-14 at Newcastle City Hall. More information.
