Watch the video & learn more about our world first programs

CIFAL Newcastle is pleased to announce that our promotional video for the Graduate Certificate in Disaster Risk Reduction has been named a finalist in The Australian Effects and Animation Festival  (AEAF) 2017.

CIFAL Newcastle Video Recognised

This is an international competition now in its 20th year with entries from around the world. The awards are given for creative and technical excellence in the use of visual effects and animation in the creation of screened work. Our video has been nominated in the Education & Infographics category. It was developed by branding agency Guts Creative and animated by Fluffy Cloud Media. Both of these innovative creative businesses are based in Newcastle.

The animated video for Graduate Certificate in Disaster Risk Reduction by Fluffy Cloud nominated for an AEAF award.

To develop the marketing strategy, Guts Creative interviewed leaders from national organisations to understand where planning for disasters sat on their priority list. As Guts Creative explain: “Using these insights, we provided clear direction on who to target, what to say, how to say it and where to promote it. We were lucky enough to help UON put our recommendations into practice, undertaking a social media campaign and developing this animated video.” Fluffy Cloud employed a white on white animation to emphasize simplicity and clarity and a specially composed piano score was commissioned for the video which gets the message across in just 1 minute 10 seconds. Fluffy Cloud’s Director, Stig Bergqvist and Producer, Lisa Marriott bring years of international experience to their animation making and CIFAL Newcastle wishes them luck for the 16 August 2017 AEAF Awards event when finalists and winners will be shown at a screening. A panel of judges will select the top ten entries in each category and the top scoring entry from each will be named category winner and receive the award.

A second video for our new Master of Disaster Resilience and Sustainable Development program was later developed by the same successful team. You can view it here:
