Student success in national essay competition
NLS student wins first prize in CLTA Corporate Law Student Essay Prize
Every year the Corporate Law Teachers’ Association (CLTA) holds a student essay competition in order to ‘recognise exceptional scholarship by students in Australian or New Zealand universities for essays concerning topics commonly covered within a company law subject.’ In 2020, the first prize of $300 has been awarded to Madeline Muddle of Newcastle Law School, for her essay on the duties of company directors.
When announcing the prize at the CLTA Annual Conference in Melbourne, the CLTA President noted that Newcastle Law School has had something of a ‘lock hold’ on this essay competition in recent years. In 2019, Newcastle Law School students Natalie Young and Ainslie Gill were awarded the first and second prizes respectively. In 2018, Newcastle Law School student Tom Mowbray was awarded second prize, behind a student from the University of Queensland.
