9 UON bands battle it out for top prize.

BandCompFinal

The 2018 UON Band Comp came to a thrilling conclusion on Monday 7 June, with soul fusion band Mr. Sauce securing first place.

Mr. Sauce have scored the headline slot at this year's Autonomy Party at Bar on the Hill, plus a $2000 recording contract with Baraya Records, and a paid, recorded and live streamed gig during lunchtime at Callaghan campus.

The competition was close, but a strong sense of camaraderie between all performers made for an uplifting evening which the entire UON community can be proud of. A fantastic audience turnout and participation seemed to bring out the best in the finalists.

Winners:

1st - Mr. Sauce
2nd - Yev Kassem
3rd - Jacob Ridgeway Band
People's Choice - Shrimp
Finalists:

Sunday Avenue
Diplazar
Smoke & Rain
Mitch Cordingley

Judges included representatives from Student Central, Baraya Records, and the Unisounds National Campus Band Competition.

All finalists have been guaranteed gigs across campus in the future.
