  • Autonomy Archives Exhibition
    The University of Newcastle Cultural Collections some fantastic photos as part of the Festival of Autonomy, celebrating the University of Newcastle becoming autonomous from UNSW. See everything from the University’s humble beginnings in Tighes Hill to Godfrey Tanner at the first ever Autonomy Day. The New Space Autonomy Archives Exhibition is a freeevent!
  • Live Entertainment
    12pm, Auchmuty Courtyard
    See some great live music from our some of our very own UON students this Festival of Autonomy in the Auchmuty Courtyard for free!
  • Uni Revue: Stranger Degrees
    12pm & 6pm, Brennan Room
    Come along and watch free Uni Revue performance Stranger Degrees! It's a live theatre show featuring comedy sketches, songs and performance pieces, written and performed by students. Performances of the Uni Revue are on TUE 07, WED 08, and THU 09 AUG during the Festival of Autonomy.

Monday 6 August

  • Live entertainment with ‘Five A Piece’

  • Sit Down Stand Up Comedy
    6pm, Godfrey Tanner Bar
    An evening of edgy, fast-paced comedy that's good for your funnybone. 
    Featuring Aaron Gocs, Waka, Sian Smyth, Oliver Twist, Ben Kochan and Alex Jae! 
    This is completely free for you, but get in quick because Sit Down Stand Up is always a full house!

Tuesday 7 August

  • Live entertainment with ‘Pocket Jazz’

  • Free Lunch BBQ

    A free BBQ will be provided to students along with club stalls and good vibes.

Wednesday 8 August

  • Live entertainment with ‘BAAB’

    (note: this is a reverse gender ABBA tribute!)
  • UON Community Garden Composting Build 
    12pm, Community Garden (Oval 4, Callaghan)
    With more and more people looking to compost on campus, the UON Community Garden compost bin has hit capacity. Urban Farming (feedback organic recovery) will be helping the UON Community Garden Volunteers setup the expanded compost garden to get it working to its full potential. Come along and get your hands dirty! Getting involved is free.

Thursday 9 August

  • Live entertainment with ‘The Jungle Kings’
    12pm, Auchmuty Courtyard

Friday 10 August

  • Autonomy Party
    7am, Bar on the Hill 
    The biggest student party of the year starts with a free breakfast from 7am. The Party will feature live music with a mix of local and student acts, bands and DJs as well as a silent disco. Gates open at 7am. The party concludes by 4.00pm. Tickets available at the gate: $10 students, $20 guests.
  • Chill Zone
    9am, Oval 4 (Callaghan)
    A range of free activities at Oval 4 including live performances, market stalls, activities, food and drinks. This is an alcohol-free zone, with plenty of spaces to relax and listen to live music.
