The Gift Governance Committee
Your support means everything to us. Respecting your wishes and ensuring your generous donations are put to work to support students, research and community programs enabled by the University of Newcastle is a role we take very seriously.
Ensuring your support has the greatest impact
The Gift Governance Committee is an advisory committee to the Vice-Chancellor. Its role is to oversee how we accept and manage philanthropic gifts to the University; and ensure our governance rules are applied respectfully, consistently and transparently.
Its other important role is to ensure you, our wonderful donors, can have confidence in our ability to honour your wishes and to maximise how effectively your generous donations are put to work delivering positive community outcomes aligned to the University’s strategic objectives.
Senior leaders from across the University, including the Chief Financial Officer, General Counsel and an external member invited by the Vice-Chancellor, meet at least three times a year, with the Committee chaired by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic).
“We are so grateful for your generous donations and are committed to respectfully honouring your wishes.”
Professor Darrell Evans, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Chair of the Gift Governance Committee
