Learning Lounge opens 24/7

Learning Lounge open

The newly refurbished Auchmuty Library Learning Lounge is now open to students  24 hours a day. The space has been transformed with a $1.6 million dollar refurbishment into a bright light-filled collaborative learning environment. Large windows opening onto the courtyard have replaced brick walls. Students were asked to help choose and test new furniture so old tables and chairs have been exchanged for comfortable lounges and ergonomic group computer tables.

The Learning Lounge provides group study spaces, collaborative computer desks, WiFi and and a 'survival station' with hot water and a microwave. Library staff are not available to provide assistance outside library hours. Computer access is limited so bring your own device (BYOD) is recommended for individual study. Laptops are also available for loan from the Auchmuty Information Commons. Access to the Learning Lounge after the Library is closed is via student swipe card.

"24 hour access is fundamental to the design." The University Librarian, Mr Greg Anderson said. "We wanted to provide a supplementary after hours service to our popular Auchmuty Information Common (AIC) throughout the entire year."
