Get It requesting for book loans has resumed. Please be mindful that due to COVID, many libraries have service restrictions and this may impact our ability to fulfill requests.  At present we are unable to obtain loans from overseas libraries. Additionally, Australia post advises that there are significant postal delivery delays.

Use the Get it online requesting service to obtain items that are not held in either the Library collections or BONUS+(including books, journal articles, book chapters, research reports, patents, and papers from conference proceedings).

All University of Newcastle staff and students can use this service.

Off-campus students can request items to be posted to your home address.

Staff and students located at Newcastle Australia IHE  can request journal articles, and can also request copies of chapters from books in our collection.

  • Login to Get It using your Uni ID (student number/staff numberplate and password).
  • Select either the Request a book or Request an article/chapter online form.
  • Fill in and submit the relevant form, entering as many details as possible about the item you are requesting.

All requests are processed as quickly as possible. Please check that you have provided accurate and complete details for the items you have requested.

Articles are usually received within 1 week depending on the location of the supplier. Books are usually received within 2 weeks depending on the location of the supplier and availability of the item. If an item has to be requested from overseas, it may take longer to arrive.

A rush service is available on request for urgent items.

You will be notified by email when your loan or document arrives.

Electronic copies of articles / chapters from books will be delivered to your University of Newcastle email address in PDF format.

Please Note: electronic copies will be available for 30 days or 5 views only – you must download and save the document within that time in order to keep a permanent copy.

Books, or other physical items will be available for pick up from your home library. Bring the email with you to collect the item. Books requested by off campus students will be sent to the home address, if requested.

Having trouble logging in to Get It?

For invalid ID or password errors, check that you have entered your details correctly. You need your student number/staff numberplate and your password. If you have forgotten your password click the 'reset password' link.

For all other error messages, clear your cache and cookies and then try logging in again.
