Global Traveller grants are provided by the UON Global Office to assist University of Newcastle students to undertake short term experiences.

To check which locations have been selected for a Global Traveller Grant for the June/July Winter break 2018 and for the January/February Summer break 2019, please go to the Study Overseas Blackboard site

Steps for Applying - Winter Break Short Courses

  1. Email study-overseas@newcastle.edu.au to nominate which selected location you would like to be nominated to
  2. After your nomination, complete the application to the overseas university
  3. By 1 June, complete the application form. You will need to provide proof of acceptance from the overseas university and an approved credit agreement to prove the overseas experience is counting towards your degree.

Steps for Applying - Summer Break Short Courses

  1. Email study-overseas@newcastle.edu.au to nominate which selected location you would like to be nominated to
  2. After your nomination, complete the application to the overseas university
  3. By 1 December, complete the application form. You will need to provide proof of acceptance from the overseas university and an approved credit agreement to prove the overseas experience is counting towards your degree.

Selection Criteria

  • GPA
  • Answers to the following questions:
    • Briefly describe how this location will enhance your current degree
    • How is this experience going to benefit your future career

Students receiving an Australian Government Scholarship including New Colombo Plan or Endeavour Scholarships will not be eligible to apply for a global traveller grant.

Application

To be considered for a Global Traveller Grant for a placement / internship you must have been accepted into your overseas program and the overseas experience must count directly towards the completion of your degree or a specific course. Students are required to:

Students will be required to upload proof of acceptance and proof the experience is counting towards their degree as part of this application form.

Application Deadline

  • 15 May - For Placements / Internships held between March - July
  • 15 July -  For Placements / Internships held between August - November
  • 15 October - For Placements / Internships held between December - March
