Schedule for Saturday test day
Below is an example of a paper based or computer based schedule for a Saturday:
8.00am - Registration
9.00am - The Writing test commences, followed by the Reading and Listening sections of the test will and takes 3 hours (with no break).
12.30pm – 4.30 pm - Speaking tests
Speaking Tests will be scheduled between 12.30pm and 5 pm on the test date and takes approximately 15 minutes. Speaking registration is 30 minutes before your test time at room LC2.34, The Language Centre.
Schedule for tests conducted business days
Below is an example of a computer based schedule conducted during the week:
11.20am – 1.00pm - Speaking tests
Speaking Tests will be scheduled between 11.20am – 1.00pm on the test date and takes approximately 15 minutes. Speaking registration is 30 minutes before your test time at room LC2.34, The Language Centre.
1.15pm - Registration
1.30pm - The Listening test commences, followed by the Reading and Writing sections of the test will and takes 2.45 hours (with no break).
During the test your identity will be confirmed and you will be asked to check and confirm your personal details. You are required to check your details carefully and confirm any changes on test day as these details will appear on your Test Report Form.
Your fingerscan and photo will be captured on test day. Your test day photo will be used on your Test Report Form.
IELTS registration and tests are held in the Language Centre on the Callaghan (Newcastle) campus.

The University has a large campus, and it is advised to locate the building and rooms early. Signs will be in place from 8am.
What to bring
- Passport for registration - Candidates who cannot satisfy staff of their identity will not be allowed to take the test.
- Do not bring valuable items. A locked bag room is available. The University of Newcastle does not take responsibility for your personal belongings.
