Dr Mack Saraswat
Dr Mack Saraswat is a serial entrepreneur and has lived in New Zealand, Scotland and India before settling here in Australia. He has a Ph.D in Biochemistry, has two patents to his name, and has seven startups under his belt. Drawing experience from failed startups and one successful exit, Mack understands the art of commercialisation and learning from one's mistakes. At UON, Mack is responsible for business development and looks after the faculties of health, education and the school of psychology. In his spare time Mack runs two startup companies, jams on the cajon and remotely manages a scholarship programme called Girls in Tech in India.
Jacob is a 28 year old graduate of the UoN Faculty of Business and Law. He completed his Bachelor of Business majoring in Marketing in 2015. An American expat, he's been living in Newcastle for close to 10 years now. During his studies he worked for Apple Retail in a customer service role. After graduating from UoN he briefly had a freelance marketing consultancy helping small Newcastle and Hunter businesses with social media and digital promotion, but soon decided to take what he'd learned and create his own startup, Hey Zeus. A first of it's kind self-serve takeaway shop, Hey Zeus is located on King Street near NewSpace, and focuses on local and organic fast food.
Jessica is the founder and Director of Crave New Media, which she started from the popular Instagram page @cravenewcastle in 2014 which now has over 47k followers. With a passion for hospitality, Jess started the Instagram page as a hobby project with the goal of showcasing and supporting local cafes and restaurants. Jess soon realised that the industry lacked good education around utilising the power of social media, and so the vision behind Crave transformed. Jess has recently launched the 'Crave' app which allows users to discover food personalised to what they feel like, where they are, and their budget all at the swipe of a finger.
