After researching online, Nikhil found the University of Newcastle through a consultancy in Mumbai, India and realized both his requirements were met with the Master of Business Administration/Master of Marketing.

“I have always been passionate about how brands market and position themselves, it was something I got to learn in this course. I am pushed to think like a marketer.

“While it focuses on marketing, I also get to learn about strategic leadership and management which are needed in today's world,” he said.

Enjoying the flexibility his program offers, Nikhil has found a balance between social and academic events to further his networking potential.

“You can manage your work, your social life as well as studies. It's just not a lot of pressure on a student and especially for someone who's just moved in, it's a lot easier for them to manage their schedule,” he said.

During his studies, Nikhil received the South Asian International Scholarship.

“Coming from a single parent household when your mum is the sponsor for your education such scholarships do matter a lot and make a huge difference,” he said.

Recalling the feeling of recognition from this scholarship helped Nikhil to exceed his potential in his studies.

“The fact that the university believes in students like us, pushes us to our fullest potential and shapes us as great individuals not only professionally, but personally, it's a different feeling all together,” he said.

Seeing the opportunity provided by the scholarship to boost his resume and hopefully open doors within his professional career, Nikhil is excited for this opportunity.

Nikhil is finding his experience at the University to be amazing with the professors, classes and facilities being interactive and engaging.

“I have been a part of a lot of great industry experts and leaders coming in to give us guest lecturers and taking us through their professional journey. Which in my opinion has been a big leading experience for me,” he said.

Recalling the experiences Nikhil has had so far throughout his degree, he is seeing aspects of his program in all areas of life.

“It's like a complete package for someone who wants to get into marketing. I am now thinking like a marketer every time I step out of the house. I just can't help myself,” he said.

Nikhil encourages any international student interested in studying at the University of Newcastle to not worry if you are going to fit in.

“The university is a great place to start and when you learn, it's more of an experience. If you are looking for an experience along with the knowledge that you would take with you 2 years down the line.

I don't think the way I used to. You know, it's changed me a lot as a person and it's just for my development,” he said.
