Pak found out about the University of Newcastle at a UON alumni sharing session. He heard of the beautiful environment of Newcastle and discovered that the University ranks among the top 175 in the world. The unique architecture of NUspace and the world-class facilities and technology also appealed to him.

So, he decided to study a Bachelor of Business (marketing) at NUspace in the heart of the Newcastle CBD; choosing to live on campus at Callaghan for the convenience and safety it provides.

“My single studio room has all the facilities a student would need and is cleaned regularly. There are security guards who patrol the accommodation area, so I think it’s very safe,” he explained.

Pak enjoys the beautiful beaches of Newcastle and the range of activities that have enriched his life in Australia, such as skydiving, hot air ballooning and diving. He also appreciates the down time he gets while studying at the state-of-the-art NUspace library.

He praises the variety of courses, the friendly teachers, the beautiful environment, and the range of societies that the University has to offer.

“It has made my university experience very enriching, and I have settled in well. The University of Newcastle is the ideal school for me,” he said.

Due to the COVID pandemic, Pak spent half of the time studying online. Although this was a challenge, he found the teaching staff to be very helpful and supportive in guiding him through his studies.

His degree covered many key marketing topics such as data analysis, advertising, digital marketing and international marketing. And although he hasn’t decided exactly where he wants to work in the future, he hopes to pursue a career or either marketing or data analysis.

The industry placement program gave him real-world work experience and provided him with personal career planning advice.

“My degree has prepared me well for the future and has made me more sensitive to market trends,” said Pak, “it’s given me a great passion for study.”

Pak plans to go on to do a master’s degree in data analysis, so he has more options for his future career, and he advises other prospective international students to “expand your horizons and step outside your current comfort zone.”

“There are endless opportunities available,” said Pak, “I am very glad to have completed my studies at The University of Newcastle.”
