Cheena’s golden moment
Cheena always knew she wanted to study engineering, even as a young girl. At her school in Jaipur, India, she excelled academically, with one teacher noting that she was the best student he had seen come through the school.
She began to research engineering programs around the world, and that is when she learned about the University of Newcastle. She was attracted to the University because of its excellent reputation for engineering programs, and the way it embraced the idea of mixing creativity and technology for innovative results.
A science geek at heart, she now hopes to set an example for other young women around the world to never give up on their dreams, and to find success doing what they love.
“Studying here was the best decision for me. I have met so many people from other cultures, and love to learn from them. I am now more confident in making decisions for myself," says Cheena.
Since starting her study, Cheena has also become an International Student Ambassador for the University of Newcastle, a role that sees her share her experiences with prospective students, schools and the community.
