The Faculty of Science has a strong commitment to fundamental and applied innovative research.

The Faculty performs strongly in attracting significant external research funding from national competitive grant schemes. We have also increased our industry partnerships and links with government agencies in the Hunter region and beyond through applied research and development collaborations.

Our research students are taught by experts and have the opportunity to participate in our research which incorporates new concepts and technologies - the basis for tomorrow's world.

Students are in frequent contact with academic staff acknowledged for their strong research performance and productive partnerships with industry and the community.

Doing a PhD or MPhil is a big commitment of your time, energy and resources. The costs involved will differ according to your personal circumstances. The University of Newcastle has several types of financial support available to assist our students.
