Global engagement
The Faculty of Science (FSCI) has a global footprint created by our alumni, students, staff, teaching and research.
Our staff and students come together from 30+ countries across the world. With them they bring a diverse knowledge, expertise, skills and experience that adds to the breadth of understanding and cooperation that is celebrated across the Faculty community. Our capacity to engage with teaching and research that globally recognised is a strength that we are particularly proud of. In 2020, the Faculty of Science is ranked in the Top 200 in the world for our disciplines of Geography, and Psychology and the Top 250 in the world for discipline like Mathematics and Environmental Science by the QS World Rankings by Subject. We are very proud that 95% (20 disciplines) within the Faculty are classed as ‘well above world” standard as part of the Excellence in Research Australia review in 2018.
The Assistant Dean Global Engagement leads the FSCI Global team, whose role it is to deliver on the Faculty’s global aspirations, strategies and plans. The key areas of focus include:
- International study opportunities and scholarships: Scholarships, short term study experiences, study abroad and exchange programs help our students travel and gain first-hand understanding of other societies and cultures that will set them apart as truly global citizens.
- Student experience and engagement: Adding value to existing support services and activities available ensure that all our students have a positive, successful and life-changing experience while in Australia.
- Global Partnerships: Supporting our academic staff to develop and maintain collaborations with international institutions and industry groups are mutually beneficial and align to Faculty priorities.
