STEP 5: NSW Department of Education - Working with Children Declaration for Child-Related Work - Tertiary Practicum Students

Teacher Education Students must complete and lodge the NSW Department of Education Working with Children Declaration for Child-Related Work - Tertiary Practicum Students form with the NSW Department of Education Probity Unit prior to their first professional experience placement. Teacher Education Students should complete and lodge this form each time they update their NSW Working with Children Check (Eg. when moving from a Volunteer to a Paid NSW Working with Children Check).

  1. Go to following NSW Department of Education website and download the Working with Children Declaration for Child-Related Work - Tertiary Practicum Students form.
  2. Complete the Working with Children Declaration for Child Related Work - Tertiary Practicum Students form and lodge the form with NSW Department of Education, Probity Unit. Details on how to lodge the form and proof of identity requirements are provided on the form. The NSW Department of Education, Probity Unit will then process your form via the NSW Office of the Children's Guardian and record your compliance within their proprietary systems.
  3. You will receive an email from the Probity Unit once your NSW Working with Children Check has been CLEARED. Please note: NSW DoE Probity Unit WWCC clearance may take two to six weeks to process. Contact the Probity Unit directly (details below) if you have any questions.
  4. Log onto your SONIA online account and follow the steps listed on the SONIA checks page to record and upload your NSW DoE Probity Unit Clearance.
