|Location||Three76 Hub, 376 Hunter Street, Newcastle 2300|
UON’s School of Nursing and Midwifery is collaborating with local digital solutions provider, Laughing Mind, to run a HealthTech solvathon at Three76 Hub on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 September. If you are looking for an interactive and novel way to develop your healthtech ideas and connect with like-minded innovators then read on.
A solvathon (also known as a hackathon) is a rapid paced event which sees interdisciplinary teams combine to create or outline a usable software or other ICT platform which seeks to solve a design challenge, using openly available health data. The UON HealthTech Solvathon has three possible design challenges:
- HackCare to transform palliative + end of Life Care
- HackMyCondition for Chronic Disease Management
- HackLoneliness for better Mental Health care and connectedness
This event is an ideal cross-disciplinary design experience for Health, Design, Computer Science and Business students and academics to tackle contemporary healthcare issues. The challenge is to design + develop 1st generation technical prototypes or outline a concept to address a healthcare problem with targeted use of contemporary technology. Event attendees will develop a strong working understanding of the challenges, constraints and possibilities in an intensive crucible of health+tech curiosity. The solvathon is open to pre-formed teams as well as individuals who can be matched up in advance with others.
An info session will be held in advance of the Solvathon on 23 August at Three76 Hub for anyone with questions about what to expect and how to access the open data in advance - or you can check out hackinghealthtech.com FAQs re the event format, prizes and judging criteria,
