Cultural Collaborations: Art-making and placemaking workshops
The Wollotuka Institute, The University Library, and the Gallery are excited to work together on our newest placemaking project: Cultural Collaboration.
In celebration of The Wollotuka Institute’s new space inside the Auchmuty Library, all students and staff are invited to take part in the artmaking process for a new mural.
Placemaking projects celebrate heritage, culture, and inspire. This mural will be a collaborative visual expression of how students and staff feel about our places and spaces, and our vision for the future.
The mural will be created by students and staff, with facilitation by expert artmakers.
There will be bush tucker provided by Wollotuka – come and learn about the healthy and nourishing food that can be found in the natural landscape!
This is an amazing chance to make your mark on the iconic Auchmuty Library, learn about Indigenous culture and be part of something deeply unique.
The pride and joy expressed in the mural is our expression of love for the lands of the Callaghan campus.
Session times
There will be two workshop sessions for this project, and attendees are encouraged to book their place in one or both.
Bookings are essential - places are limited!
The University of Newcastle acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands within our footprint areas: Awabakal, Darkinjung, Biripai, Worimi, Wonnarua, and Eora Nations. We also pay respect to the wisdom of our Elders past and present.
