Resilience is in people, communities, spaces and nature. This durability and elasticity exists already, and some people cultivate it through their research and work.
Catastrophes and adversity are part of life. The media broadcasts the immediate carnage and damage, but rarely do we see the ongoing impact and the long, slow journey of recovery for the community, the natural environment and the built environment. Resilience isn’t just about overcoming chaos, it’s about improving social issues with innovation and ingenuity to enhance our everyday lives; and it’s about sustainable solutions that prepare us for population growth, development and climate change through the Built Environment.
The University of Newcastle's School of Architecture and Built Environment unveils this endurance and resilience of natural solutions. Come explore how we continue to bounce back and become better, always Building Resilience.
