Radical Newcastle Walk

The Centre for 21st Century Humanities and the Global Newcastle Network present:

Radical Newcastle Walk

Led by University of Newcastle historians and special guests, this free 2-hour walking tour will showcase aspects of Newcastle's past, focusing on its radical history.

The Radical Newcastle walk explores the people behind some of the city’s well known protests, riots and campaigns, as well as revealing the stories of some less well known radicals.

It will showcase communists, feminists and free thinkers, culminating in a visit to the Star Hotel where Australia’s most famous riot took place in 1979.  Participants are invited to share a drink at the Star at the end of the walk (at own expense).
