Since 2002 the Hunter Research Foundation (HRF) Centre has run a dedicated research program in the Upper Hunter. Our insights are shared twice a year at our economic breakfasts.
The keynote speaker for our April event will be the Energy Program Director at the Grattan Institute - Tony Wood. He will consider - Energy for Japan, China, Korea: Future coal exports from the Hunter. Is demand for Hunter Valley coal likely to go up, down, sideways? The Hunter would benefit from greater certainty. What level of certainty is possible?”
Tony took up his role at the Institute in 2011 after 14 years working at Origin Energy in senior executive roles. He has advised Australian governments on energy and climate change policy and was last year recognised with an Order of Australia for his contribution to this critical national debate.
HRF Centre's Lead Economist, Dr Anthea Bill, will also help set the business compass for the year ahead with unique insights on the Upper Hunter economy including business and consumer expectations. This includes results from our Upper Hunter Pulse Survey of local expectations, presented in our latest Upper Hunter Region Economic Indicators
