The HRF Centre's 30th anniversary breakfast series continues in August with a special focus on the challenges for youth employment, and featuring the Foundation for Young Australians and key findings from its latest report titled The New Work Mindset. A panel of experts and industry reps will also bring a local focus to the discussions.

"Australia's future prosperity relies upon effective participation of young people in the economy. They need preparation and support for a smooth transition to work and innovation opportunities as creators and entrepreneurs. Our current challenge is that the Hunter’s unemployment rate stands at 5.5%, but youth unemployment is double this rate at 10.9%.

So what does that mean for young people in the Hunter and for local businesses, government and the community sector? How can youth unemployment be reduced?"
Dr Anthea Bill, Lead Economist HRF Centre
