Celebrating the work of students graduating from the UON Bachelor of Fine Art (Honours) program in 2017. Each artist has developed an original project exploring a range of critical perspectives and material processes.

Nick Barlow explores the absurd strangeness of everyday life, exposing glimpses of the uncanny observed in mundane or ordinary moments. Shannon Cadman responds to local landforms in abstract paintings that document the impact of open-cut coal mining on the landscape. Alysha Fewster highlights our connection with the natural environment in a series of photographic images of cubbies, built to shift imagined barriers between work and play. Mannequins and humans are markers of the artificial and the real in photographs by Chloe Hey, who uses the construct of the shop window to present slippages in identity. Through observations in the Anatomy Laboratory at UoN, Rosemary Reynolds explores the quiet beauty of the inner body. Her material studies reference the notion of the gift, where the process of giving becomes a binding connection. The suburban liminal is studied in the work of Deborah White, who records her observations of place, memory and transition in the still suburban environment of Lorn.
