Alumni House Design Competition Finalists
The Alumni House project is now well underway! This project will establish a new alumni community space right in the heart of our cultural and creative precinct at 231 King Street in the Newcastle CBD.
To bring this fantastic alumni community project to life, the University launched a design competition, inviting leading architectural firms to set out their vision for Alumni House. Importantly, these firms must have alumni representation in their project team to participate.
We received a terrific response from our architecture community with 32 submissions received for Stage One of the competition and over 70 alumni represented in the design teams.
These submissions have now been considered by the jury which has selected four finalists to progress to Stage Two of the competition. The jury is comprised of architects, built environment professionals and University of Newcastle and alumni representatives.
Your four finalists are:
- Candalepas Associates + David Boyle Architect
- Durbach Block Jaggers
- Sam Crawford Architects + Curious Practice
- Tonkin Zulaikha Greer
These finalists will now prepare designs for the jury’s consideration with the winning design announced in late May 2021.
