Kate Hines

Passionate about supporting mission-driven businesses and helping to grow her Newcastle community, Kate Hines joins the VMS program with a wealth of experience across corporate and nation-shaping innovation projects.

Kate initially connected with I2N through her delivery of the nation’s science and technology accelerator, the CSIRO ON program, for which she was also awarded the CSIRO Medal for Support Excellence in 2017. Thanks to her involvement in the incubator and with University of Newcastle innovators, she has a rich network of businesses and researchers across the Hunter region.

Having worked across corporate and government sectors, Kate is able to speak to multiple stakeholder interests, and can advise start-ups on how to best engage with partners and customers. “My background is complimentary to what a lot of the start-ups need in the very early stages when they're trying to figure out how to tell their story and how to prioritise their business needs.”

Over the past year, Kate has been mentoring Tricia Martin, founder of professional development platform, Virtual Intern. She’s also been supporting Ryan Lecchi of Type Strong. “It’s hard not to fall in love with these businesses and what they’re doing – it’s such a rewarding experience.”
