Description

The Undergraduate Certificate in Information Technology is only available in 2021. 

Acquire core ‘in demand’ computing skills and knowledge to succeed in the digital age. This program provides you with a basic introduction to information technology, computing and related fields. You will learn the fundamental skills needed to work in the area of computing, including understanding data quality issues, programming, and the technologies behind the Internet. Information technology and computing professionals are in high demand, and skilled computing professional have access to large and diverse employment opportunities in areas such as technology, business, cyber security, e-health, mining, defence, government, and entertainment.


Program learning outcomes

On successful completion of the program students will have:

  • Basic mathematics and technical computing skills relevant to the information and communication technology (ICT) profession.
  • Fundamental knowledge in key areas of ICT that inform and contribute to professional practice.
  • Foundation-level skills to communicate effectively with stakeholders and members of ICT teams to enable collaborative work and engagement.
  • Foundation-level skills to enable them to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.

Program requirements

The Undergraduate Certificate in Information Technology requires the completion of 40 units (made up of 4 courses worth 10 units each). The program is comprised of:

  • 10 units of core courses;
  • 10 units of courses chosen from the Course List A; and
  • 20 units of courses chosen from the Course List B.

Additional information

Through the Pathways and Academic Learning Support Centre, students can access a free suite of NUPrep preparation courses as well as Academic Learning Support.
