Scholarships for Australian Emergency Management Volunteers

To recognise the complex service volunteers deliver and the high-level skills and leadership required to respond to emergency situations, the Australian Federal Government has committed $1 million dollars to fund scholarships for emergency management volunteers to help in building our national resilience.

Eligible volunteers can receive financial support to access accredited vocational and higher education qualifications in emergency and disaster management fields. If eligible, you could receive up to $25,000 for higher education study.

Examples of programs you could study with this scholarship include the Master of Disaster Resilience and Sustainable Development or the Graduate Certificate in Disaster Risk Reduction through the University of Newcastle.

We encourage all volunteers, including those involved in firefighting, flood and storm response, road rescue, search and rescue, and patrolling beaches, and recovery, to consider this new development opportunity.

How to apply

The Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience (AIDR) will administer the new scholarships on behalf of the Government.
