The University of Newcastle, Australia

Australia is rich in natural resources. Geological knowledge and understanding underpins our capacity to ensure a sustainable supply and responsible use of these resources.

The Geology major will see you explore the Earth’s geological structures to discover, develop, and responsibly manage minerals, energy, and other Earth resources.

Through practical fieldwork, you’ll build a detailed understanding of the Earth’s rocks and minerals, environmental mapping and the use of natural resources, preparing you to work across the energy, resources and environmental sectors.

As an industry-recognised major, following graduation students will be able to work as professional geologists.

Geology is a 120 unit major, specific courses can be found in the program handbook.

The Geology major within the Bachelor of Science is only available at our Newcastle (Callaghan) campus.
