Animal Biology

Animal Biology is the perfect major option if you’re passionate about animals and want to gain a deeper understanding into the physiology, genetics and development of all animals big and small.

Starting with the foundational principles of biology, you’ll expand your study to focus on specific biological research, the chemistry of DNA, genes and molecular biology, and physiological systems in animals.

A major in Animal Biology can lead to various career opportunities including roles as an animal or zoo keeper, a research scientist, wildlife biologist or marine scientist.

A major in Animal Biology can lead to various career opportunities as an animal scientist investigating animal physiology and biochemistry, endocrinology and nutrition, along with pest and disease management. You could take on a career in policy development and compliance for government and non-government organisations, or work as consultant in industries such as mining, rail and road infrastructure and property development.
