What jobs can I get with a major in Global Indigenous Studies?

Work in both government and non-government sectors.

Studying a Global Indigenous Studies major/minor as part of your degree will prepare you for careers in a wide range of government and non-government sectors, where specific skills in cross-cultural awareness are sought.

There are also many positions within both government and non-government sectors that may not be directly focused on Indigenous affairs, but require the types of transferable skills (such as oral, written and interpersonal communication skills) that are fostered when you undertake Global Indigenous Studiesas a major/minor.

Other career paths lead to Aboriginal institutions concerned with land councils, medical services, legal services, cooperatives and housing companies. Within this sector there are a number of positions that are Indigenous identified.

You will study communication styles used by Indigenous communities and how they have been represented in Australian media.
