Cancellation for non payment of tuition fees: International students

International students who fail to pay their tuition fees on time may risk having their enrolment at UON and Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) cancelled. Please read on for important information on cancellation.

If you have any questions, or if you believe you will have difficulty meeting your payment options it is important that you contact Student Processes PRIOR to the Census date to discuss your circumstances and options.

Why was my enrolment cancelled?

Enrolments with UON are cancelled if all or part of a student’s tuition fees are outstanding after the Census date of the term.

What does cancellation mean for me?

While your enrolment remains cancelled, you are not an active student of the University of Newcastle. You are removed from all courses you were enrolled in and you will no longer have access to Blackboard, myHub or your student email.

You are no longer covered by UON insurance or public liability and cannot attend classes or sit exams.

If you are studying in Australia on a student visa, your enrolment cancellation may affect your visa status.

The University must report your cancellation to the Department of Home Affairs which results in the cancellation of your CoE.

I would like to come back to UON in the future

As non-payment of tuition fees is a potential breach of your student visa condition to maintain financial capacity, UON may not be able to consider you for further offers to study.

You will be required to contact Department of Home Affairs on 131 881 to discuss your options as your student visa may be seriously affected.
