Orientation

Volunteers are an integral part of Orientation activities and new students greatly appreciate being assisted by their peers…you remember what it was like.  During Orientation UON Volunteers assist with the Clubs & Societies Expo, with the Campus Quest (think Great Race), campus tours, bbq lunches and wayfinding.  There is also an awesome buzz in the air at Orientation – and why not be a part of it.

This will be suited to people who want to give back to the University and their fellow students.  To help our newbies feel comfortable and welcome, as after all, we are all a part of the UON community.

Graduation

Volunteering shifts at Graduation are always popular – you may find yourself dressing graduates (helping them into their academic robes for the ceremony…not actually “dressing” them), ushering the family and friends of graduates to their seats or assisting with way-finding before and after ceremonies.

This will be suited to people who want to get involved in one of the most important, positive and exciting times of a student’s life here at Uni.

Open Day

Open Days are the largest domestic recruitment (preparatory, undergraduate, postgraduate and research) events of the year, with over 7,000 attendees visiting three campuses - Newcastle, Central Coast and Port Macquarie.

Year after year, our exhibitors - faculties, divisions, services, and university-affiliated organisations - set up fun, interactive booths, host presentations, and put on special events throughout campus to engage our future students.

They provide an opportunity for future students and their families to have face-to-face contact with University staff and students, collect information about degrees, tour the campus and facilities and get a taste of university life.

Volunteers will assist with event setup and dismantlement of exhibition booths and event equipment, but most importantly help visitors get around the uni, answer any questions they may have, and hand out fun show bags making them feel welcome on campus.

This will be suited to people who are outgoing, enthusiastic and passionate about their degree and have a genuine interest in helping prospective UON future students.  Students who have an interest in event management will benefit from hands-on event experience.
