Sustainability and Going Green
UON Community Garden – Callaghan
Volunteering in the Garden is a great way to meet new people in a quiet and relaxed atmosphere and get back to nature. At harvest time you even get to take home the organic produce that you have helped to grow!
There are generally several larger Garden events held each semester, including Green Week Gala Day, Winter Harvest Picnic Day, the End of Year HooRoo, Spring Clean and Harvest Day Out, as well as a series of smaller working bees, planting days and the year round watering roster.
This will be suited to people who like outdoors events, gardening and who don’t mind getting a little dirty. It’s also for those who want to socialise with other Volunteers.

Volunteers will be able to sign up for events like mass planting days across the campus, the community including the Hunter Wetlands.
This will be suited to people who have an interest in the environment, horticulture, or just generally love the outdoors.
