Enabling to Undergraduate

Applying for an Undergraduate Program

Students who are completing their Newstep, Open Foundation or Yapug program at the end of Semester 1, 2019 can apply direct to UON for free, for admission to an Undergraduate degree*. Students who successfully completed one of these programs in Semester 2, 2018 are also eligible to apply.

Applications for Semester 2, 2019 will open from Thursday 30 May 2019.

There will be one round only – applications will close at midnight on Sunday 14 July 2019.

Students that successfully lodge an application by 14/07/2019 will receive notification of their outcome from Tuesday 23 July 2019.

Offers will be sent to your preferred email address - please keep an eye on your inbox, clutter and junk folders. Your preferred email address is the one you have nominated as “preferred” in MyHub. You will have 7 days to accept, decline or defer your offer before it lapses.

*Students applying for B Music and B Music / B Arts are also required to complete the additional entry requirements before we can assess their eligibility for a place in these programs. Applicants should complete the Music Selection Process as early as possible, and by 14/06/2019 to ensure that their audition can be assessed, and we can take the application into consideration.

Students who completed a UON enabling program in Semester 2, 2018 or are expecting to complete at the end of Semester 1, 2019 are NOT required to submit a UAC application.

Important Information

  1. Click on the 'Apply Now' button above to access the application form.
  2. Complete the form, selecting up to 3 preferences. You don’t have to select three preferences, but it’s a good idea to have a back-up plan in case you don’t meet the admission criteria for your first preference.
  3. There will be a section in the application where you can attach any other relevant documents - see 'Supplying Additional Qualifications' below.
  4. After you have entered all relevant information, selected your preferences and uploaded any additional documentation, make sure you press the submit button before the closing date.

After you submit your application you will receive an email confirmation to your preferred email address providing details of your application including the preferences you selected.

Educational Access Scheme (EAS): If you have experienced long-term educational disadvantage, beyond your control or choosing, and this has seriously affected your current UON studies, please read the information on EAS categories of disadvantage and required documents. Applications are to be lodged directly to UON using the UAC EAS application form. Completed forms and supporting documentation should be attached to your direct UON enabling to undergraduate application.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Entry Scheme: If you identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander you may be eligible for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Entry Scheme. Please visit our website for details. As part of the degree transfer application you will be asked if you would like to be considered as part of this scheme, and if you select 'yes' you may be invited to attend an interview with The Wollotuka Institute at one of our campuses.

If you have other assessable qualifications that can be used to generate an admissions rank, you have the option of attaching them to your application. Examples of qualifications that can be used to generate a rank include:

  • Certificate III
  • Certificate IV
  • Diploma
  • Advanced Diploma
  • STAT Test Results
  • Tertiary Preparation Certificate
  • Undergraduate Study at other Universities

If attaching qualifications to your application, please ensure you include any certificates of completion, as well as relevant transcripts. Please note that we can only accept colour copies of original documents, or copies that have been certified.

We will review any qualifications and incorporate them in the assessment of your application where applicable. Don’t worry if you don’t have any additional qualifications - most students don’t and we primarily just use results from your Enabling studies.

Once you have submitted your application, you can change your preferences, add documents, or cancel your request by completing the following steps:

  • Log in to AskUON
  • Click on My Account on the right-hand menu
  • Scroll down to the My Applications section
  • Click on your application to open it
  • Make any changes then resubmit your application

All changes to your application must be made by the closing date.

A number of UON degrees have high demand and limited places, with more people applying than the number of places available. These are referred to as 'Quota Programs', and admission to these degrees is closely managed. Quota programs are not available for Semester 2 entry. Further information will be supplied here for Semester 1, 2020.

We take the course marks you achieved in your Enabling studies and convert them to an admissions rank. We then compare that rank to the admissions rank required for entry to your first preference. If your admissions rank is equal to or higher than the rank required for your first preference, we will make you an offer to your first preference via your preferred email.

If your admissions rank does not satisfy the rank required for your first preference, we will then compare your rank to the admissions rank required for entry to your second preference. If your admissions rank is equal to or higher than the rank required for your second preference, we will make you an offer to your second preference via your preferred email.

If your admissions rank does not satisfy the rank required for your first or second preference, we will then compare your rank to the admissions rank required for entry to your third preference. If your admissions rank is equal to or higher than the rank required for your third preference, we will make you an offer to your third preference via your preferred email.

If you don’t meet the rank for any of your preferences, and/or you haven’t selected a program from the Guaranteed Entry options (please see details below) we will be in contact to discuss what happens next.

There is only one round of applications and offers for entry in Semester 2, 2019.

Applications open: 27 May 2019

Applications close: 14 July 2019

Offers emailed: 23 July 2019

Further information will be supplied here for Semester 1, 2020.

We will email and let you know if you were not eligible for any of your preferences, and advise what your options might be for Semester 2, 2019. All of our successful enabling program graduates are guaranteed an offer to a select number of degrees, so please take a look at what is available.

It is strongly recommended that you include a degree from the guaranteed offer scheme in your preferences for Semester 2, 2019.

Unfortunately if you do not successfully complete your enabling studies we will be unable to offer you a place in one of our undergraduate degrees. In this situation we recommend you contact the English Language and Foundation Studies office on 1800 353 775 to discuss your options.
