Scholarship helps expand knowledge in library research support for research analysis and open access publishing
As a recipient of the 2018 International Development Scholarships, Senior Research Librarian Debbie Booth spent two weeks in Europe attending the European Summer School for Scientometrics (ESSS) in Vienna and in the Netherlands visiting Leiden University, Delft University of Technology and Utrecht University.

Scholarship brings ‘design thinking’ principles in focus at the School of Architecture and Built Environment
Taona Afful - the Executive Officer from the School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE) was one of four recipients of the 2018 International Development Scholarships for UON professional staff. She spent three weeks visiting the University of Calgary, University of Toronto and McMaster University meeting and exchanging ideas with staff from these universities, learning about their facilities, workshops and administrative processes.

As a recipient of the 2018 International Development Scholarship for UON professional staff, School of Creative Industries Administrative Assistant, Alisha-Jane Laney recently spent two weeks in the UK to build international relationships and gain valuable insight into the events and summer programs the University of West England and the Royal Conservatoire of Glasgow do well.

Scholarship helps advance knowledge of virtual communities for student communications
As a recipient of the 2017 International Development Scholarship for UON professional staff, Student Communications and Information Officer in Student Central, Jayne McCartney recently attended the Social Media Strategies Summit (SMSS): Higher Education Conference in Boston, where she learnt about ground-breaking work in the area of virtual communities, and collaborated with leaders in the field.

As a recipient of a 2017 International Development Scholarship for UON professional staff, NIER Research Development Coordinator Justine Ulph spent two weeks in the Pacific Islands to work with counterparts at The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) - an organisation responsible for the Pacific region’s environmental protection and sustainable development.
