The Conservatorium of Music
A contemporary touch to a community favourite
The Conservatorium is a significant public asset for the Newcastle region, along with providing both undergraduate and postgraduate education; the facility also supports an active community music program. Embedding the School amid the city’s cultural, community and business activities will facilitate industry and community engagement and enable the expansion of interdisciplinary teaching and research.
From December 2019, a phased refurbishment is set to commence within the Conservatorium of Music that will see internal upgrades to the Foyer in early 2020 and the Harold Lobb Concert Hall later in the year. Works will also include a new purpose built recording studio in Semester 2, 2020 that will replace the facility previously located at 468 Hunter Street.
These works aim to increase the vibrancy to the main entry, encourage student collaboration and connection and foster relationships between the University, industry partners and the wider community.
