Vice-Chancellor's Awards for Teaching Excellence

The Vice-Chancellor's Awards for Teaching Excellence and Contribution to Student Learning seek to recognise and reward staff (individuals or groups) who make an outstanding contribution to student learning at the University.

ELIGIBILITY

Faculty and Divisional awards are open to all staff who directly support student learning, holding an ongoing or sessional appointment for a minimum of 2 years. This includes academics, professional staff, tutors, casual lecturers, teachers and conjoints.

CRITERIA

Applications for Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for Teaching Excellence and Contribution to Student Learning will be assessed on the evidence they provide in relation to one of the following four categories.

  • Approaches to teaching and the support of learning that influence, motivate and inspire students to learn
  • Development of curricula, resources or services that reflect a command of the field
  • Evaluation practices that bring about improvements in teaching and learning
  • Demonstrate the effective use of educational technologies and other teaching innovations in both face-to-face and blended and fully online environments for the benefit of student success

The Awards fall into the following categories:

  1. Faculty Awards: An award for staff directly supporting student learning (either an individual or a team - one only) from each faculty (five awards - one per faculty). The selection process for these awards is conducted by each faculty.
  2. Division Award: An award for academics and staff directly supporting student learning (either an individual or a team from the divisions (one award). Each division can nominate an individual or a team (one only per division) to be considered for this award.
  3. Sessional Staff Award: An award for Sessional Staff (an individual or team) from across the University (one award). Each faculty and the Academic Division can nominate one Sessional Staff member (or a team) to be considered for this award.
  4. The overall Vice-Chancellor's Award for Teaching Excellence and Contribution to Student Learning is presented to the most outstanding recipient from the above categories.
