Description
This course will develop skills in evidence-based physiotherapy practice and health communication. Students will develop skills in finding, appraising and synthesising research evidence as it applies to clinical physiotherapy practice contexts and in the knowledge and application of concepts relating to health behaviour change

Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course students will be able to:
1. Search, analyse, evaluate, synthesise, and apply relevant scientific literature in a chosen topic area relevant to physiotherapy practice
2. Demonstrate an ability to effectively apply research and commit to practice informed by best available research evidence and new knowledge
3. Demonstrate an understanding of concepts relating to health behaviour change and apply advanced communication skills including conflict resolution
4. Demonstrate advanced critical thinking, scientific and professional writing skills
Content
This course consists of the following content/modules:
- Finding, appraising, synthesising and applying research evidence and clinical practice guidelines relevant to physiotherapy practice contexts.
- Health behaviour change
Case studies will be used to provide context for all course modules
Requisite
This course is only available to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) program [12337]. Students must have successfully completed PHTY3020, PHTY3070, PHTY3090, PHTY3100, PHTY3080, STAT1070, HLSC4120.
