Description

The music industry provides a variety of experiences and potential careers for musicians based on their creativity and versatility. This course introduces important topics all musicians must know for a career in music. This includes the understanding of the diverse income streams that can be earned from recorded and live music, the identification of the many components that make up the music industry and their relationship to creation, performance, production and dissemination.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course students will be able to:

1. Investigate career opportunities in the music industry

2. Identify income streams in the music industry

3. Apply fundamental contract negotiation principles

4. Recognise and outline key characteristics in the presentation of a professional musical identity


Content

Musician representation, retail, publishing, contracts, copyright, royalties, promotion, distribution, networking and exposure.

This course replaces MUSI1441. If you have successfully completed MUSI1441 you cannot enroll in this course
