Description

This course introduces strategies and processes for managing the music industry. The many digital platforms that exist today for the music business are discussed with a particular focus on new digital business models.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course students will be able to:

1. Demonstrate an understanding of marketing and audiences.

2. Demonstrate an understanding of the requirements for developing a project proposal from creation to completion.

3. Proficiently navigate the digital platforms relevant to the music industry.


Content

The course discusses the project creation and development process with the role of the manager, agent and promoter. Disruptive innovation techniques, fan behaviour, music management, pitching, project development, budgeting and marketing a new project.
