Description
This course introduces important topics all musicians must know for a career in music. This includes the understanding of the diverse income streams that can be earned form digital and live music, the identification of the many components that make up the music industry and their relationship to creation, performance, production and dissemination.

Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate an understanding of all the components of the music industry
2. Demonstrate an ability to identify income streams
3. Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamentals of contract negotiation
4. Demonstrate a basic understanding of the requirements for a professional musical identity.

Musician representation, retail, publishing, contracts, copyright, royalties, promotion, distribution, networking and exposure.
