Description
Provides a comprehensive introduction to aspects of human anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and evolution. Covers the concepts of molecules and their behaviour within cells, the transition from cells to tissues to organs, the control of homeostasis through the nervous and endocrine systems, movement, an introduction to genetics and drugs and their modes of action.

Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course students will be able to:
1. To develop strategies for independent learning.
2. To develop critical reasoning skills, particularly in relation to the application of knowledge in the human biosciences.
3. To understand the structure (Anatomy), function (Physiology) and the molecular interactions (Biochemistry) of the human body.
4. To understand the structure and functions of the cell.
5. To understand the organisation levels of the body from cells, tissues, organs, systems and organism.
6. To understand the principle of homeostasis in the context of a healthy functioning human body.
7. To understand how homeostasis is achieved in terms of feedback control of bodily function.
