Examines theoretical and practical aspects of quantitative methods in business research. The purpose of this course is to equip students with skills necessary for the development and implementation of their own research dissertation based on quantitative methods. Students will have the opportunity to use state-of-the-art statistical software and apply established quantitative methods, thus gaining some experience in data analysis techniques. The course emphasises the critical evaluation of survey research designs and data analysis techniques to enable students to better appreciate the strengths and weaknesses of quantitative research strategies.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the course students will be able to:

1. Demonstrate a sound understanding of the scientific method as it relates to quantitative research;

2. Outline and apply the principles of hypothesis testing;

3. Develop appropriate analytical strategies to test specific hypothesis;

4. Use the statistical software package PASW to support and enrich quantitative research

5. Report statistical findings, their meaning, and related recommendations in a clear and concise fashion.
